  • How would you describe your photographic style?
There's several parts to this: editing, my approach to taking photos and the style of the photos themselves. Since I learnt photography on film cameras and didn't touch a digital camera for 5 years, this has influenced my photographic style as a whole. I'm careful, I notice the details, I'm quick to act, I see an image before I press the shutter, and I understand complex lighting situations. Editing The way I would describe my style is nostalgic, earthy, filmy, romantic and whimsical. My editing style is largely influenced by my love for film photography and fine art. And it's just that - I want to make you look like art. I love using a touch of grain and my editing style is equally soft while making the colours look rich. Over the course of my career as a Wedding photographer I have fine tuned and crafted an editing style that is warm, delicate and stands out amongst other wedding photos. If you're looking for wedding photography that looks artistic, you're in the right place. Scroll down to see a before and after so you can see how I edit. While I may ever so lightly edit out some messy background and any stray hairs, I prefer not to go overboard on editing - unless you specifically ask me to. Take a look at my gallery to see a range of edited photos. Style My wedding photography style is a unique blend of documentary, candid, photojournalism and fine art. Weddings are incredibly complex events, and are so full of emotion. As a photographer, you have to be able to bend your style to meet the needs of the moment. I aim to tell the story of the day, but emotional moments call for a different skillset than documenting people screaming along to Amy Winehouse at night... and let's just say I understand the assignment. Approach When it comes to those highly anticipated portrait shots of the couple, we'll have a chat as we walk to our planned location, I'll give you both a moment to soak in the fact you just! got! married! and I'll work discreetly in the background, occasionally asking you to pause if you move into a position that is great. If you're feeling a bit stiff (don't worry no one is truly a natural in front of the camera), I'll offer some suggestions, moving hair and clothing into the right place and help you create a moment you'd really like us to get, or I think would make for a beautiful image. I often ask my clients to share with me a pinterest board with portrait styles or point out any of my previous photos they love so I can understand the creative direction of these shots. One thing I can promise is I'll never make you do a love heart with your hands. Live, laugh, leave the cheesy shots to a different photographer. I know it may feel quite strange having a smooch or being close with your partner in front of someone with a camera, so I always make sure we've met in person or over video before the wedding simply to have a chat and get to know each other so I feel a bit more familiar to you. I'm very warm and friendly and have also had my photos taken with my partner and understand how it can take some time to get used to. So I totally get it don't worry. There will be moments of the day where I try to be as discreet as possible, like the ceremony, speeches and any quieter moment where you don't want to hear the click of a shutter. Other parts of the day, like the confetti shots and family photos I put my director hat on and help set up the shots with clear direction and will always make sure we've talked through these moments beforehand so I know what you're hoping for with the shots. I love to be right in the action when it comes to the fun dancing parts of the day. You will find me right there in the middle of the dance floor having a boogie with you to get those up close and personal but memorable shots of you and your loved ones having the time of your lives.
  • Can I see a full gallery of a recent wedding you’ve photographed?
Absolutely! Head over to my gallery page and have a browse through the weddings I've photographed within the past two years.
  • How long have you photographed weddings for?
I started wedding photography back in 2020. The first wedding I photographed was during covid which was... let's just say interesting. It's worth noting that I don't do wedding photography full time. As well as this I photograph portraits and events and I also work in Marketing and Design. I'm a very creative person and love having my fingers in lots of different pies! My multi-faceted background hugely helps me with my wedding photography as it involves so many more skills than just taking good photos. I currently photograph about 10 weddings a year, but this is already doubling in 2024!
  • Do you have a backup plan in case of illness or emergency?
100% I am part of a network of wedding photographers, particularly Bristol-based photographers as this is where I mainly photograph weddings, and have been lucky enough to photograph weddings with other photographers. I always notify other photographers I know if I have a wedding coming up, and visa versa, in case an emergency occurs and I can't photograph a wedding. In the unlikely event of something happening to me out of the blue, you will never be left without a photographer for your day. If a photographer does step in, I ensure their photography style is similar to mine, that you're in contact with them and they're fully briefed. Depending on the situation, I will still edited your photos. So far, I have never had to ask a photographer to step in but I have stepped in for other photographers so I know how the whole situation is handled.
  • What equipment do you use?
For digital I use several cameras from Canon's EOS R mirrorless series and for film is use a 1970s Nikon F3 - kept in pristine condition.
  • Do you carry backup equipment?
Always. I carry two cameras with me, a mixture of lenses, another back up camera in my bag, about a million fully charged batteries and extra sim cards just in case.
  • How many hours of coverage do you provide?
It depends on your wedding package but coverage ranges from 6 - 12 hours. I do charge extra for every hour you'd like me to stay past our agreed time.
  • How long will it take to receive our edited wedding photos?
3-4 weeks for digital photos. 4-6 weeks for prints.
  • Do you offer engagement / pre-wedding photo sessions?
Yes I do! For several couples I have done pre-wedding photo sessions which are a great way of getting comfortable in front of the camera and having an even wider range of photos outside of the wedding day. You can book this as part of a wedding package.
  • Can we provide a list of must-have shots?
When we meet before the wedding and we run through the whole day, I tend to ask you to send me either a pinterest board or some of my own photos which you love so I can ensure we get similar photos. I always ask clients for a list of any group photographs they would like, these are my responsibility to take and something I am in complete control of. If your list has static objects on it, such as ‘a picture of the flowers’ or ‘a picture of the tables before dinner’, then by all means send me that list. However these lists can get tricky when they are very very specific. Such as "my dad crying when he sees me", or "my brother's baby laughing." Trying to pre-empt otherwise organic moments can sometimes lead to disappointment. I will always be on the look out for those golden moments, and if they happen I will do my best to get them. If you're planning a big staged shot - for example I photographed a wedding and the couple wanted all the guests to stand in a long line with sparklers while they ran down the middle - I can certainly help to make this happen with the venue staff and with your help of yourselves, but I can't be solely responsible for making it happen, and it is out of my hands if any of the guests interfere with that shot. Unfortunately at this wedding, the guests were about 8 drinks in and lit the sparklers too soon while I was directing everybody and the shot very quickly had to change. I will do everything I can to make those shots happen, but if guests interfere, the heavens open up, or anything changes, we will have to be dynamic.
  • How do we receive the photos?
3-4 weeks after the wedding I will send you both a link to an online viewing gallery where all the photos will be categorised by moments in the day (getting ready, ceremony, portraits etc). You will be able to share the gallery with friends and family, share straight to social and download the photos onto your own device. I also have an online shop linked to the gallery and you can select your favourite photos, see what the photos would look like in a gallery, on a canvas, or printed out and order them through there. I always offer couples a 25% discount for the first two weeks after receiving the photos if ordering through my shop. I do have a wedding package that includes have an album sent to you. Similarly, you'll select your favourite photos and I'll create the album for you through a printing company I've partnered with and send it directly to your front door.
  • Are you insured?
Yes up to £1 million. If your venue requires a certificate just let me know and I’ll send a PDF.
  • Do you charge for travel expenses?
Not if you're based in South Wales (Newport, Cardiff) or South West England (Bristol area). Anything that takes over 2 hours on the train to get to (or over 30 miles), I tend to charge a small fee so I can book accommodation nearby so I'm ready bright and early in the morning. Anything international I charge from £300 to cover flights and accommodation.
  • What are your payment terms and options?
A deposit is required to secure your date and then the final balance is due one month before the wedding date. If you have paid the deposit and then decide not to hire me anymore, the deposit is non refundable. If you have paid the deposit and I have to cancel, the deposit is refundable. If you have paid the deposit and the remaining balance and I have to cancel, it is my responsibility to find you a replacement photographer. This is no additional cost to you. If you have paid the deposit and the remaining balance and it is less than a month before the wedding and you cancel, you will not be entitled to a refund as I have spent a lot of time preparing, I have lost out on work and I will likely not be able to find replacement work in time to cover this.
  • How do you ensure a smooth timeline on our wedding day?
We have a catch up call or in person walk through a few weeks before the day to run through the agenda from start to finish. Getting the flow and timing right for confetti, group pictures, couple portraits, pictures of the dining room before sit down and candids during the drinks reception, in a word, is hard. But luckily, I’m really good at it. I’ll guide you through the best way to execute this block of time to make sure that we get the pictures you’d like in a timely and stress free fashion. I'll always liaise with the venue team, caterer, wedding planner if you have one, and even your loved ones to make sure we're all aligned on timings. I’m a chilled out person, and with a list of family pictures in my pocket and the time on my phone, you can just enjoy the day knowing that I’m on top of it!
  • Will you be sharing our photos on social media or your website?
Part of the contract you'll receive asks for your consent to post the photos online.
  • Can we request specific editing styles or retouching?
My editing style is my own, so broadly speaking if you’re thinking of asking me to do that then I would encourage you to find a photographer who does what you’re looking for as standard. If I edit a photo in black and white, I'm happy to provide it in colour if you ask - unless it's photographed with black and white film. However, if you would like something edited – your sisters ex boyfriend photoshopped out for example, then that’s no problem, that level of editing is about £10 per picture.
  • Do you provide a written contract?
Yes, after we have our call to see if we're right for each other, I'll compile everything we've discussed into a contract for you and me to sign. This is VERY important. If you end up going with a different wedding photographer and they're not sending over a contract, big red flag. I unfortunately had to step in for a couple last year who were scammed by a photographer and they couldn't get their money back because there was no legal contract. Always sign a contract!
  • What is your policy on rescheduling or cancellations?
In summary: You’re legally entitled to a 14 day cooling off period under UK law. Within this time you’re entitled to a full refund without question. If you reschedule after this period, but with a considerable amount of time to go before the wedding (a year). Then we can possibly port your deposit to the new date. If you cancel within a month of the wedding then you are still liable to pay 100% of the contract value. I turn away multiple clients each year for dates that I am already booked, this fee represents the work I turned away in honouring my agreement with you. Full terms and conditions can be found here: Terms & Conditions
  • How do you handle family dynamics and large group photos?
With expert planning before the wedding. During our catch up beforehand we run through the day and plot the most efficient way to handle group photographs. On the day I typically communicate with immediate family to make rounding up people nice and easy.
  • Are there any hidden fees we should be aware of?
No, everything will be laid out in the contract. If you require any extras, we can add them in. The only additional cost would be if you ask me to stay longer than originally agreed on the day, then I will send an additional invoice - but I will remind you of this is you do ask me stay longer.
  • How many hours should I book you for?
The absolute shortest I would say is 8 hours to ensure I get the most important parts, but the evening shots can be so fun. I typically only photograph an hour of the evening celebrations, as people tend to get a bit drunk and the photos stop looking so flattering. And in all honesty, by hour 12 I am rather exhausted and wouldn't want to do a shoddy job if I keep going. You can get over 600 beautifully edited photos from 10 hours of coverage.
  • Do I need to provide you with food?
Yes please girl's gotta eat! If I'm photographing for more than 5 hours then I will take an hour break to have food, usually when you're having food, and may split the break up into two half an hour breaks depending on your schedule. During this time, I prefer to go to a quiet place to remain focused, secure all photos onto a hard drive, rest my legs and hydrate.
  • How many photos do you get in a wedding package?
You should always look for quality over quantity, but for a 10 hour wedding day, you should be expecting in the region of 600+ images.
  • Do wedding photographers deliver all photos?
No. RAW photos stay with the photographer. Often photographers take multiple images in a sequence and then send the client the best one. It’s down to the photographer to disclose the best version of their product.
  • When should I book you?
As soon as possible. I'd say at the absolute minimum a year in advance. If you want to work with me, don't delay so I can ensure your date is available. On very rare occasions I will accept a booking in less than a year, but this is usually if I'm replacing another photographer who can no longer do the wedding and all the plans are set. If you are booking me for a wedding that's in 6 months, no stress we'll jump on a call as soon as poss and get the whole process going.
